Plot

Kafka Hibino is 32 years old and part of a special team responsible for dismantling the remains of the Kaiju, who are killed by the defense forces. Kafka is Mina Ashiro's childhood friend. The two, some time ago, promised to join the defense force corps and protect Japan from the Kaiju. Hibino failed to pass the entrance exam, abandoning his dreams. Mina, keeping her promise, instead became the captain of the III Division of the Defense Forces Corps. One day, Kafka faces a strange Kaiju with whom he merges. From that moment the young man acquires the ability to transform himself into Kaiju number 8, obtaining particular abilities.
